It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
